MY NAME... Denise
MY AGE... 31
MY BIRTHDATE... 10/17/73
WHAT I DO... Currently. Nothing. I have just graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, with a degree in English/Creative Writing, and minor in Studio Art. I am between jobs at the moment. I want to write a book, but I have not started on that officially yet. I will be thinking more on that over the next month or so, and then I want to start writing... something... I dont know what yet, but something.
MY FAVORITE MUSIC... That would have to be Pearl Jam. Yes without a doubt my favorite music is Pearl Jam. Nirvana comes in at a close second. I have been listening a lot to the Red Hot Chili Peppers lately. I also like TOOL and A Perfect Circle. I also really like Godsmack. I think that the song "Voodoo" by Godsmack is one of my favorite songs.
MY FAVORITE BOOKS... Well, I just love two books by an author named Marion Zimmer Bradley. One is called "The Mists Of Avalon", and the other is called "The Lady of Avalon". Both books that are wonderful and have made it to my list of favorite books. I’m also a huge fan of JRR Tolkien, and I have read “The Hobbit”, “The Lord of the Rings.” I will soon re-read “The Return of the King” I told myself I would read these books again before I saw the movies, because I always like to read the book first when a movie is based on a book. I don’t know why. It is just a thing I have. I have also read “The Fellowship of the Ring”, and “The Two Towers” of course. lol I am also a HUGE fan of the Harry Potter books. I know that these books are meant for children, but they are so well written that they are fun for adults too. These books truly are magical. The only other book I can think of off the top of my head that I loved is "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb. Also I have about 30 books on Paganism, Witchcraft, and Goddess Traditions. I love to study this stuff. Right now I am reading “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Being Psychic.” It is a pretty good book. I am a big fan of those Complete Idiot’s Books. I have 3. I have “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft,” and “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Tarot and Fortune Telling”. If you can get passed the semi-insulting title, these are really good books. I plan on getting a few more. Maybe even “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Bible”, and “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Numerology.” Oh anyway.
MY FAVORITE MOVIES... oh.. this one is kind of hard. I have many favorite movies. But lets go back to my childhood for some of them. The First one would have to be "The Last Unicorn" another is "The Dark Crystal". Then also there is "The Never-ending Story". In my teenage years my favorite movies included "The World According to Garp" and "The Breakfast Club". My most current favorite movies include "Titanic" "Harry Potter, and the Sorcerers Stone", “Harry Potter, and the Chamber of Secrets” (which I might add is better than it’s predecessor.), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, (which I might also add is not my favorite Harry Potter movie, but I still love it for many different reasons, namely that it is beautiful. I loved the new outside of Hogwarts set, especially the standing stone circle on the hill before you get to Hagrid’s Hut!) and of course "The Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship of the Ring," “The Two Towers,” and "Return of the King." I have all of them in the extended versions too. They are absolutely the best movies ever made, at least in my humble opinion.
MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS... aaahh.. TV SUCKS! ha ha.. well it does anymore. My favorite TV show of all time was "The X-Files." I also adore "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but now they are gone, and there really is nothing worth watching. I think "Friends" is cute (gone too). And I occasionally watch "Days of Our Lives" basically out of old habit. That show has definitely gone down hill in the past several years. Right now, I am really liking "The Dead Zone" It is way better than I expected (I sure hope it comes back soon). I usually don’t care much for cable shows, but this one is good. And who would have expected that dorky little Anthony Michael Hall would grow up to be such a BIG guy. He is HUGE! Sometimes I watch just out of amazement that he looks the way he does now. LOL.
MORE TID BITS ABOUT ME... aaahh well, there are two things about me that are a bit important that I have not told you about yet. The first of these being that I am a Pagan. Most of my religious beliefs come from the OLD religion traditions, many of which became the new religion of Wicca, but I don’t call myself a Wiccan because my beliefs go beyond Wicca itself. Part of my personal beliefs are very Buddhist in nature. Some of it is like Native American beliefs. And yes, there is even some Christianity thrown into the mix. But I believe in a Goddess. I have a reverence for the Earth. It breaths and is alive.. as much or more than anything that lives on her. I follow the moontides, and the seasons. I celebrate the ancient days of light, which includes the equinoxes, and the sabbats. My religion is very personal to me. It is something that I don’t share with many people, and those that I do share it with are usually other Pagans, Wiccans, or Christians who have open minds.
The second thing that I haven't told you about myself is that I have a condition known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). For the past three years this condition has been pretty much the center of my world. I was told that I might not be able to have children. There is only one thing that I have known for my entire life, and that is that I wanted children. I want to have a child more than I have wanted anything else in the whole world. I want it so bad that I will do almost anything to make it happen. Right now, I am trying to lose weight. My doctor said that losing weight would help improve my fertility. So I went on this diet called "The Insulin Resistance Diet" I was also put on glucophage and the combination of the diet and the drug has helped me lose 70 pounds in a year, ALL of which, I regretfully have to report, I have regained, plus some. I’m sad about that, but I’m still working hard. I am also saving up money for fertility treatments. I will do IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) with donor sperm in 2005. UNLESS I meet an really awesome guy who is sweet and good looking and into Pearl Jam, and is a Pagan, who really wants to get me pregnant before then. It could happen. (YEAH RIGHT!)
I also sleep with a stuffed animal. Its a Yule mouse. His name is Chris Mouse, but he is affectionately called Mousey. He has big floppy ears, and he wears a green and red argyle sweater. I love him.
I also have to sleep with a fan running or I cant sleep. Something about white noise I suppose.
That’s me.
Peace and Love
